One of the many perks of working at the American Treasure Tour is getting to decide which car to focus on for our "Full Throttle Thursday" blog entry.  With so many full-sized cars to choose between, we decided to do something a little different today, and so we honor the time-honored tradition of the Hess Truck!  The famous Hess Truck was the miniaturized manifestation of the vision of a man named Leon Hess.  Born in Asbury Park, New Jersey in 1914, he was only nineteen when he started delivering fuel oil to homes. The Hess gas company became extremely successful and - oh, right.  We're talking about the toy trucks here.  1964 was the year the first Hess truck became available for the holidays.  Sold retail for $1.29, it included batteries and working lights.
