Born Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu on this day in 1910, Mother Teresa felt a religious calling as early as the age of 12 and left home to become a missionary at the age of 18. Known as “Teresa of Calcutta,” Mother Teresa spent most of her life in India helping the sick and the poor. She won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.
