Happy 71st Birthday to Penny Marshall! She began acting in commercials in the late 1960s and quickly found small roles in television shows such as That Girl, Love, American Style, and The Bob Newhart Show. She had recurring roles on The Odd Couple, Mary Tyler Moore, and Happy Days before she hit it really big with Laverne & Shirley, which ran from 1976-1983. She directed four episodes of the show before branching out as a film director. Among her hits are Jumpin’ Jack Flash, Big, Awakenings, A League of Their Own, and The Preacher’s Wife.
