Happy 65th Birthday to Sigourney Weaver! Born Susan Weaver into a life of privilege—her father was the president of NBC—she changed her name at the age of 14, inspired by the character “Sigourney Howard” from F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. Weaver was already acting in school plays and summer stock at this age and, after graduating high school, attended Stanford University and Yale School of Drama. She established a successful stage career and began appearing in films in 1977. Her first role was a non-speaking 6-second appearance in Woody Allen’s Annie Hall. A mere two years later, she starred in Alien and a star was born.
